Collection file notes

You can manage more than one collection file. But MediaMan only starts with the last loaded collection. To start MediaMan in different collections, double click the file. Collection files have a .mmc extension, and are displayed in an icon similar to MediaMan's program icon.

Software features

You can drag & drop items onto any category to move them. The same technique can be used in tag mode.

To create tags, edit an item, click "Reveal All" and find the tag field. Enter some words to describe this tag. After pressing "Save" you'll see the tag appear in the tag view.

To change the rating for an item, or how it looks in virtual-shelf, select the items and right click to find relevant options.

To use Play Music or Play Video, select an item and open up the Extra tab. Attach a folder using the options on this tab to establish a link between the item and files on your hard drive. Play Music only recognizes .mp3, .wma, .ogg files. And Play Video only recognizes .avi, .wmv files.

You can still navigate between categories to view items while importing.

Once you pressed "Edit", you must press the "Save" button on the top of the detail pane to confirm changes. If you navigate away to other records, the change is automatically dismissed.

The "Notes" field in the Extra tab will record your flag, and "Location" field changes. It behaves like a log or history of where the item is located.

Quick diagnose common problems

If you can't perform searches or fail to activate, first check the firewall software settings then proxy settings in Internet Properties.

If you can't locate your collection file, open up Windows Explorer and search for *.mmc files.

If the webcam is unable to scan barcode, first right click the webcam picture and see if the correct camera is selected. Then consult your webcam manual to find out how to adjust the focus using the focus ring. MediaMan need to see the barcode clearly. So you have to focus the webcam to a closer distance, 3 inches / 7 cm to be specific.

If you can't see the category pane or the detail pane, place the mouse cursor to the right of the left window edge, or left of the right window edge until it changes its shape. You can click and drag it to the opposite side to see these views.
